Guardianship
A guardianship is a legal structure to assist
individuals with personal affairs, health and well being issues.
Individuals who are functionally incapacitated or lack sufficient
understanding or capacity to
make or communicate responsible decisions
concerning their person may require a guardian. Robin and Susan are the
first In Colorado to accomplish certification as Registered Guardians
with the National Guardianship Foundation.
Court-appointed Guardians are responsible to the court and are required to provide written client status reports and care plans on a regular basis. Significant changes in the client's condition are documented and reported to the court immediately.
The Guardian coordinates and monitors all aspects of the client's daily care. Decisions surrounding the client are made within the context of the client's historical preferences, lifestyle, and values. Whenever possible, clients are included in the decision making process.
